Important Information

  • Presentation types: Oral presentation or Poster presentation
  • Abstracts must be submitted online via the HaemOnc 2026 Abstract Submission Portal. Submissions sent by email will not be accepted.
  • All abstracts must be written in English.
  • It is the author’s responsibility to ensure accuracy. Any errors in spelling, grammar, or scientific content will be published exactly as submitted.
  • Abstracts should be original, topical, and current, and should preferably not have been previously published or presented.
  • Submission of an abstract implies the author’s consent to its inclusion in conference-related publications.
  • Presenting authors must submit abstracts via the online abstract submission system.
  • Authors may submit abstracts for oral or poster consideration.
  • The Scientific Programme Committee reserves the right to determine the final presentation format.

Abstract Submission Topics

Abstracts should align with one or more of the following themes:

  1. Basic Science Research
  2. Case Presentation
  3. Clinical Haematology Research – Benign
  4. Clinical Haematology Research – Malignant
  5. Haematopathology
  6. Patient Blood Management and Blood Transfusion
  7. Presentation by Non-Profit Organisation

Abstract Structure & Formating

Original Research Abstracts

Original research abstracts should preferably not have been previously accepted for publication or presented at another conference.

Abstracts must be structured as follows:

  • Introduction
    Brief background to the research topic, clearly identifying the problem and the aim of the study.
  • Methodology
    A concise description of the study design, methods, and techniques used.
  • Results
    Clear and specific presentation of results obtained. Abstracts stating “results will be presented” or “will be discussed” will not be accepted.
  • Discussion and Conclusions
    Interpretation of findings, significance of results, and implications for clinical practice or future research.

 

Word Limits

  • Title: Maximum 50 words
  • Abstract body: Maximum 350 words

Review and Selection

Abstract Review

All submitted abstracts will be reviewed by the HaemOnc 2026 Scientific Programme Committee. Abstracts will be evaluated based on scientific merit, relevance to the conference themes, clarity, and originality.

 

Presentation Allocation

  • Selected abstracts will be assigned to oral or poster presentation formats.
  • Authors will be notified in writing of the date, time, and format of their presentation.
  • Poster presenters will receive detailed poster specifications and guidelines in advance.

Notification of acceptance or rejection

  • All submitting authors will be informed in writing of the outcome of their abstract submission.
  • Only the submitting author will receive official correspondence and is responsible for informing co-authors.

Abstract withdrawal

An abstract may be withdrawn upon written request by the submitting author.

  • Requests must include the submitting author’s name and abstract title.
  • Withdrawal requests should be sent to: avron@soafrica.com
